More House Work

Eric and I have been working on the house a lot lately. We got more of the kitchen done and painted the dining room. I only have a little bit left of the Wonka paper and the walls will finally be normal again. The electrician is there today getting our lighting wired so we can have pretty lights in the kitchen. We are waiting for cabinets and we picked out our countertops over the weekend. Everything is starting to come together even though we still have a lot left. I am still trying to pick out paint colors for the living room and kitchen. I can't decide.
I have some current pictures of the house and will have more soon. The picture of the nest has only one egg in it but I checked this morning and we have three eggs! Also, over the weekend, we had a visit from a hummingbird so I'm gonna get a feeder so we can enjoy them flying around. We love being over there and sitting on our front porch. The weather here has been very nice. I can't wait to move in!

Nests

I went over to the house today to let the window guys in and I noticed, on our front porch, a couple of birds flying around our ferns. Turns out, there's a nest in each of the ferns! Looks like there's gonna be babies. No eggs yet but I'm sure their getting close. I think it's a House Wren that has decided to make our home his home. Here are some pics of the nests.

Our New Dog

Well, I guess it's official. We have decided to call her Sadie. She just looks like a Sadie and we are both happy with it. One day I mentioned Sadie as a possible name and it stuck. Anytime we talk about her, we always refer to her as Sadie. Sometimes I call her Sadie May because it has a nice southern sound. I looked up the meaning of her name and it's Hebrew for princess which is what she'll probably be treated like. I think she'll like it. It's a good name for a sweet dog. Just a few more weeks and we'll have her!

Stained Floors

I know I said that I probably wouldn't have pictures until next week but I went by the house and nobody was there. So, I sneaked in and got a few pictures. They look great!

I went out to run some errands today and as I was leaving a store, there was a cop blocking the intersection honking his horn. I just sat and waited assuming it was a funeral procession. Then I saw it. A house coming down the road. This road isn't really big. It has 6 lanes (3 on each side) but it's tight. As it went through the intersection, it was knocking the street lights around. Who would think that this was a good idea? So, I got stuck behind it. I laughed as I thought of hearing someone say "Sorry I'm late. Traffic was bad. I got stuck behind a house." Anyway. Luckly I had my camera to capture this crazy event.

The Floors Look AWESOME!!!

Here are some pictures of the floors from today. They haven't been stained yet but they look great! The guys plan on staining tomorrow. It still looks amazing even without the stain. I was very impressed. We won't be able to get in there to get more pictures until sometime next. We want to make sure that everything is dry before we go in. I absolutely hate that we have to wait. I can't wait to see the end result!!!!

Doggy Signs

I found these signs on a website to put around our house. If anyone knows Tucker, they have heard his scary bark and witnessed his crazy behavior. He is very protective of his territory and we want people to know he's there when people come to the door and that the backyard is off limits to strangers. We have had the Beware of Dog signs in the past and it sounds like we have some man-eating dog. Our new dog is so sweet that we don't have to worry about her scaring people. These are cute signs and if anyone is interested in getting their own, here is the site. They have just about any breed you can think of.

The kitchen floor is outta there!!!! The guys should start working on that later in the week.
Yesterday, they started laying out the wood floor in the bedroom. Obviously, it's not nailed in yet but it should be in today. It's looking good! This should also be done and stained by the end of this week. Very exciting!!!

Kitchen Floor

Last night, Eric and I started tearing up the lovely kitchen floor. We have to get it ready for the wood floor guys. They are refinishing the wood floor that is under the poopy tile. When the floors are finished, they should match the exisiting hard floors throughout the rest of the house. We hope to get more of the kitchen apart this evening and I will get pictures of the wood floor that has started going down in the master bedroom.

Here is a picture of the sample cabinet. There was other sample that we got that was almost the same color as the floor. This one has a nice contrast without being too dark. We are really happy with it. Soon, this is what are cabinets will look like when everything is finished.

Guest Bathroom

I think the only room in the new house that is pretty much done is the the guest bathroom. There are still a few things that I need to do to it, like hang some pictures and stuff but other than that, it's done and it's very bright and colorful. I am very pleased with it.

More Work on the House

Eric finished tearing up the floor in the master bedroom. There was a small place near the door that had wood floor and now it's gone. It just wouldn't match the new floor that's going in this week. Here he is hard at work. He's done an excellent job getting the house ready for the work that will soon be done. Plus, he saved us money by him doing the demo work. He's great! This week I hope to prime the dining room and get that ready for paint. I'm still stripping the endless wallpaper but it should be a little easier since we moved the fridge and the stove out. That was a royal pain in the butt. We had to take the doors off the fridge just to get out of the house and the 1950s stove must have weighed a million pounds. I helped as much as I could but Eric did most of the work. I'm glad that's done with. A few steps closer!

Tucker's New Friend

Eric and I drove down to Georgia today to meet a dog that is no longer up for adoption because we are adopting her! She's a Chesapeake just like Tucker but she's a little smaller and not quite as red. She has a fun loving personality and is just as sweet as can be. She's gonna be a great addition to our family. She should also get along good with the cat so that makes me happy. We'll be picking her up in June when our house is ready and we have the yard. It would be too cramped for all of us in the apartment and we only want to move her once. We are really excited and can't wait to bring her home. I will let you know the name as soon as we decide on one. Here are some pictures from today.

Chattanooga Dream House

This is a picture of the backside of the dream house here in Chattanooga. If you have never heard about it, it was a show on HGTV that documented a young couple that took out a loan to build thier dream house. It's 6500 sqft and has five levels. They went through all kinds of crap to get this house built and now they're selling it! Crazy! HGTV never showed the final result but we were able to get a picture of it in case anyone wanted to see what it looks like. Not much of a backyard and it's a mighty steep drop from the top of that house. Pretty scary especially if you're affraid of heights. You can see for miles and miles from up there.
Anyway, here's the website that has more information about the Chattanooga Dream House.

Green Thumb

I'm trying out my green thumb. Eric and I planted some pretty plants and flowers in our planters on our front porch. They look great and so far, they are hanging in there. We'll see how I do at keeping them alive. Keep your fingers crossed!

Our Weekend in Tampa

We had a great time seeing all our friends in Tampa. Dinner on Friday was very, very good, although I did eat too much again. We all got to catch up and visit. It was definitely weird to be back there and it felt like we had never left.
Saturday, we just relaxed inside all day at Joe and Erin's house until it was time for the wedding. It was pretty warm and sticky down there. The wedding was beautiful. It was on the beach and all the guests stood around the bride and groom during the ceremony. It was very lovely. After the ceremony, we went to the reception which was at a house they had rented. It was a nice house on a quiet canal with a beautiful garden in the backyard. The food was delicious and because it was Cinco De Mayo, Moe's Southwestern Grill catered the event. Yum! At one point, Eric and I were sitting at a picnic table in the back when we saw a racoon crawling around. It freaked us out at first but he just kept to himself and eventually disappeared. I don't think he was invited.
We had a really great time.
The bride and groom left the next day for Italy. I hope they have a nice, romantic time.
